Welded car parts, a hand held spot light and a vintage telephone. “ One of the things I dislike about our world, is the contradiction between the green rhetoric and increasingly short life of manufactured products. I did a very short series of three obsolete machines. Sad unwanted superseded robots. This is number 3. At one time it was the most expensive thing that someone owned. But it was a sensation. Being able to answer the telephone and bring it to them as they stayed put, reclined on their floral couch in their smoke filled sitting room. This impressed their impressive friends completely. Now everyone has a mobile phone,…no one is impressed, the battery won’t hold charge, parts have been unavailable since 1994. It’s not even worth the fuel to take it to the scrap dealer. The robot is very sad and embarrassed.”
